Night in the Woods publisher Finji has announced its next game, Chicory: A Colorful Tale, coming to Mac, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Windows PC in 2021. The game, led by Wandersong developer Greg Lobanov, centers on the act of painting — bringing colors to a black-and-white world.
Chicory: A Colorful Tale looks like a digital coloring book, where the player is free to create and decorate as a way to bring color back to the world. The story unfolds from there, as you use this painting mechanic to manipulate and move through the environment. The game will launch with local co-op play, so painters can play together in the world.
Ah yes, and this is important: You play as a dog with a magical paintbrush.
Celeste composer Lena Raine worked on the music, alongside sound designers Em Halberstadt and Preston Wright. Sony said industry newcomers Alexis Dean-Jones and Madeline Berger are responsible for the art.
Chicory: A Colorful Tale will be released in English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, Brazilian Portuguese, and Russian at launch.
