Season 5 of Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone is coming on Wednesday, July 24, marking the next major update for Activision’s immensely popular shooter.
As always, a new season means new maps, modes, weapons, and other additions. After season 4’s Gundam crossover event, season 5 is bringing a wrestling-themed WWE SummerSlam event.
Here’s when Modern Warfare 3 season 5 starts in your time zone, plus a rundown of the biggest changes you can expect.
MW3 season 5 release time: When does the new MW3 season launch?

Modern Warfare 3 season 5 and Warzone season 5 launch on Wednesday, July 24, at the same time in all regions around the world. Here’s when it will release in your time zone:
- 9 a.m PDT for the west coast of North America
- 12 p.m. EDT for the east coast of North America
- 5 p.m. BST for the U.K.
- 6 p.m. CEST for western Europe / Paris
- 1 a.m. JST on July 25 for Tokyo
Based on previous seasons, expect the update to roll out around 24 hours ahead of the above times on Tuesday.
What’s new in MW3 season 5?
As usual, Modern Warfare 3 will add a ton of new content at the start of season 5, with more planned for a mid-season update. You can see the entire slate of additions summarized in the graphic above (or written about in detail at the Activision blog), but we’ve listed the highlights below.
MW3 season 5 new maps, modes, and weapons
- Modern Warfare 3 will receive two new weapons at the launch of season 5, the Static-HV SMG and the STG assault rifle.
- Two new maps will join the roster of levels in Modern Warfare 3’s multiplayer: the Florida-themed Bait and the cel-shaded Yard, along with two cel-shaded variants, Celship and Toonoxide. Meanwhile, Warzone will see the return of Urzikstan’s Atlas Superstore.
- At the launch of season 5 in Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer, both the returning Arcade and COD Warrior (a set of 15 mini-games) modes will be available. Warzone gets Resurgence Mode in the Superstore POI.
- Four operators will be part of season 5 from launch: Valeria Garza, Mami (WWE’s Rhea Ripley), Ivan, and Reckoner.
- Over in the store, you can pick up Operator bundles for the WWE’s Cody Rhodes and Rey Mysterio along with the cel-shaded Toon Force 141.
MW3 season 4 midseason maps, modes, and weapons
- Two new weapons will get added to Modern Warfare 3 at the midseason update: the melee spear and the Torque 35 launcher.
- There’s only one map hitting season 5 in the midseason update: a cel-shaded variant of Ink House.
- The midway point of Modern Warfare 3 season 5 sees the addition of three new game modes: Fishfection, Paintball, and Defuse or Destroy. Meanwhile, Warzone will see the return of Supreme Resurgence — including a chance to pick up the Spilled Beans weapon camo.
MW3 SummerSlam event
Starting on July 31, Modern Warfare 3’s WWE SummerSlam event will see a new game mode added: Slam Deathmatch. In this take on Team Deathmatch, your weapons will only cause your opponents to go down. To take them out and earn your points, you’ll need to get in close and perform a randomized WWE Finishing Move.
