Tesla’s Cybertruck is coming to Fortnite, giving the battle royale-loving masses an opportunity to digitally own the contentious, frequently vandalized, and oft-recalled low-poly truck. The addition of the Cybertruck to Fortnite — coming to the in-game shop on July 23, Epic Games announced Monday — also broadens the populace of people who get to clown on Cybertruck owners for their purchase, one of humanity’s most enjoyable pastimes.
That’s already happening, as reaction to the announcement of the Cybertruck coming to Fortnite has already spawned familiar dunks on the vehicle. “First cosmetic vehicle to blow itself up 3 minutes into the match,” reads one of the most popular comments on the Tesla Cybertruck in Fortnite trailer, followed closely by “First ever drivable dumpster.”
Fortnite’s version of the Cybertruck will likely differ greatly from its real-world version. It should have no problem going off-road but probably won’t be as bullet-resistant as the physical Cybertruck. There’s a very good chance Cybertruck owners in Fortnite will be the target of some ire when the vehicle drops this week, if the internet’s response to the cosmetic is any indication. Hell, even the people who work on Fortnite want to blow this thing up.
But wait, there’s more: For Cybertruck fans who prefer their video game version of the vehicle to feature even fewer polygons, Epic and developer Psyonix also announced that the Tesla truck is coming to Rocket League on Tuesday.
